| American ginseng is the dried root of Panax quinquefolium L. that is a member of Panax genus Araliaceae family. It grows naturally under deciduous hard wood trees in the eastern parts of North American continent. China started to plant American ginseng in the late 1970s, and by now, a great quantity of American ginseng has been cultivated in many parts of China. Its functions are benefiting qi and nourishing yin, reducing deficiency fire to promote the production of the body fluid. In this thesis, the quality standard of American ginseng grown in Heilongjiang Province, China was set up including plant morphologic characters, characters of medicinal materials and microscopic characteristics. The contents of extract, moisture, total ash, ash not dissolved in acid and heavy metals of nine samples from different areas of china were determined by the methods of Chinese pharmacopoeia, TCL chromatography, remaining heavy and harmful metals and pesticide were also examined. At the same time the neutral triterpene saponins and the malonyl ginsengsides being regarded as target component in 9 samples of American ginseng from China and abroad were determined. The results proved that American ginseng grown in Heilongjiang province, China met to the standard of Chinese pharmacopoeia, and there is no difference between Chinese and American ginseng in their quality.Secondly, the methods of HPLC and DNA fingerprints of American ginseng materials were established. By analyzing the fingerprints of nine samples from various sources, 18 peaks have been identified as the common peaks. The relative retention time and relative peak areas of the others were defined as parameters of evaluating the quality referring to No.5 peaks. HPLC fingerprints... |
