Galium verum L.( Rubiaceae),expelling toxin cooling, promoting blood circulation ,damping elimination and relieving itch, is broadly used curing lower limb phlebitis in northeast china for many years, marked curative effect. In this paper, the RP-HPLC method for evaluating the quality of Galium verum L. has been established. Chlorogenic Acid as the marker substance, the content of Galium verum L. was determined by HPLC. By the method, the quality evaluation of various sources of Galium verum L. has been carried out. As a result the range of content of Chlorogenic Acid is from 0.54mg/g to 1,23mg/g in Galium verum L. In addition, the quality of inorganic matter in plants, water content and extractives were analyzed. Chlorogenic Acid and Rutin were identified by TCL.A method of HPLC-FP of Galium verum L. was established. By studying comparatively the fingerprints of ten samples from various sources, 10 peaks have been identified as the general peaks. Among these peaks, the peak of Chlorogenic Acid is taken as the standard one, and the relative retention time and relative peak area of the others are defined as parameters evaluating the quality. Furthermore, the similarities of the fingerprints chromatography were all above 99% by Excell2002.The result indicated that the fingerprints had better reproducibility and could be of practical value for the Galium verum L. quality control and their preparations.
