Objective:To investigate renal functional and pathological changes about renal of rats caused by different dosage of Chinese traditional herbes Asarum Heterotropoides F. Schmidt(AHFS), Clematis Chinensis Osbeck(CCO) and Menispermum Dauricum (MD) decoction. Methods: Wistar rats were given the AHFS,CCO,MD which had been devided into low, interior, and high dosage once a day for 3 months. The parameters of renal function and renal histology were examined. Results:We had found there were no statistical differences in urine glucosuria, urine occult blood and serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen between the AHFS,CCO,MD group and the control group. But there were significant difference of urine protein when we compared the high dosage of the AHFS, MD group with the control group. In addition, the renal histology examination had pointed out that there were different degree injury in the slight tubular-interstitial of the AHFS,CCO and MD' s interior and high dosage group. Conclusion:There is no significant adverse effect of AHFS and CCO , MD decoction on renal in rats。 If a lot of AHFS and CCO , MD decotion had been taken in long time, the renal function and histology would be injury.
