Objective:To assess the prevalence of seborrheic dermatoses of Guangzhou adolescents and analyze its risk factors; to stuty the relationship between seborrheic dermatoses and dysfunction of enteron. Method:A questionnaire survey for the epidemiological information of seborrheic dermatoses was carried out from September to December 2004. Two thousand five hundred and fifty two persons aged from 12 to 20 were selected from 3 middle schools in Guangzhou. The data were then analyzed by the software SPSS 10.0 statistically. Results:In Guangzhou adolescents aged from 12 to 20, the incidence rates of seborrhea, seborrheic dermatitis, acne, rosacea and seborrheic alopecia were 30.0%, 2.9%, 32.9%, 1.6% and 0%. respectively. According to the results of multiple logistic regression, the risk factors of seborrheic dermatoses were age, dysfunction of enteron, fried food, inheritance or life habit, tension and androgen levels. The statistical results of dysfunction of enteron were P = 0.000, OR = 1.414, 95% C.I. of OR =1.161-1.722.In addition, female patients had higher degrees of influence on self-confidenceand appearance by acne and its complications than male patients. However, the number of female patients who ignore acne and choose to go to the cosmetic salon for treatment was higher than that of male patients. There were 71.0% of the patients who chose to deal with acne themselves rather than appeal for treatment in formal organizations. Conclusion:1. Seborrhea, seborrheic dermatitis, acne, rosacea and seborrheic alopecia are affected by various factors; they are closely related to tension and endocrine levels.2. The dysfunction of enteron is the risk factor of seborrheic dermatoses.3. In Guangzhou adolescents, the fastigium of first incidence of acne is from age 11 to 16; it is suitable to provide sanitary education in this period. Patients should be treated in formal organizations to reduce the rate of formation of its complications.
