Objective: Thin sectional anatomy and three-dimensional visualization is studied to recognize the complicated distribution and extensity of the anatomical structures of the orbit, which assist in clinical diagnosis and treatment of Orbital diseases.Method: In this study, the acquisition technique of the visible human data set was used to obtain the visible orbit. Meanwhile, the images of the orbit were observed meticulously. After being registered accurately with Photoshop software, the sectional images of the data set of anatomical structures in orbit were reconstructed with 3D-D0CT0R 3.5 on personal computer. The data set of the orbit was visualized and displayed in three-dimensional space. At the same time, the anatomic structures of the orbit could be observed clearly at any angle. The adjacent relationship of the tumor can be observed and the treatment plan can be formulated by combining the imaging data of orbital tumors with the continuous thin sectional anatomy of normal orbit data and three dimensional image displayResults:1 3 series (2 series of orbit data set with transverse and 1 serie of orbit data set with sagittal planes) of continuous thin sectional anatomy of orbit data were obtained by the acquisition technique of the visible human data set. The thinnest set obtained was 0.2mm. The resolution of sectional image reaches 1,100,000 pixels, with each .TIFF file occupying 31.5MB.2. After being matched accurately, the thin sectional with transverse planes from the visible human were compared with the CT and MRI of the orbit. The anatomic structured images of the orbit were observed and measured.3. After being recognized and segmented by the Photoshop software, each important structures in the orbit including the orbital wall, the eyeball, the extraocular muscles, the optic nerve ,the orbital blood vessels was reconstructed with 3-D DOCTOR 3.5 on personal computer. Conclusion: In this study, the acquisition technique of the visible human data set was used to obtain the visible orbit. Meanwhile, the sectional images of the data set of anatomical structures of the orbit were reconstructed, and visible orbital model was created. It can be used for the digital anatomy teaching, and for the orbital virtual surgery and three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy of orbital tumor.
