Abstract Objective To observe the effect of Clopidogrel on serum P-selectin and Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) in acute asthma, and to study the relationship among P-selectin, BDNF and pulmonary function( FEV1 , PEF), and to explore the possible therapeutic of Clopidogrel on asthma..Methods 60 asthma patients were randomly divided into two groups, the routine treatment group, using Clopidogrel and the routine treatment group, and 30 normal controls. The serum P-selectin and BDNF were measured in the two groups with acute asthma compared with the controls using ELISA. PEF, FEV1 were measured at the same time.Results ? The level of serum P-selectin(27.82 dr 8.44ng/ml, 26.79 dr 7.90ng/ml) and BDNF(6.41 dr 2.65ng/ml, 5.99 dr 1.64ng/ml) were all significantly increased in the two groups with the acute asthma as compared with the normal individuals group (7.83 dr 1.91ng/ml, 1.34 dr 0.28ng/ml) ,there were markedly statistical significance between them(P<0.01). The level of serum P-selectin (10.42 ± 2.28ng/ml) and BDNF (2.68 dr 0.84ng/ml) were all significantly decreased in patients using Clopidogrel as compared with the routine treatment (13.67 dr 4.63ng/ml, 3.77 dr 1.24ng/ml) ,and the pulmonary function improved , there was markedly statistical significance between them (P <0.01). The level of serum P-selectin and BDNF in patients with asthma were negatively correlated with PEF, FEV1 . ? The alleviation time of asthma were all significantly decreased in patients using Clopidogrel and the routine treatment (6.87 ± 3.36days) as compared with the routine treatment (9.73 dr 2.49days) .there is markedly statistical significance between them(P <0.01) . ③The dosage of glucocorticoid intravenously were all significantly decreased in patients using Clopidogrel and the routine treatment (846. 71 ± 7.96mg) as compared with the routine treatment(1465.83 ± 6. 55 mg),there was markedly statistical significance between them. Conclusion The serum P-selectin and BDNF were all significantly increased in patients with asthma group as compared with the normal group, Clopidogrel can decrease the level of serum P-selectin andBDNF, improve the lung function, decrease the alleviation time of asthma, decrease the dosage of glucocorticoid intravenously, and have no obvious side effect.
