Skull defects which will deduce appearance changes and bonedefence defects is commonly seen in comminuted fractures anddecompression procedure patients,who are demanded skull repairing.Selecting materials with high quality and safety and evaluate theclinical value of multi-point forming technique in skull repairinghave became investigable focus now. titanium mesh with excellentperformance has replaced acrylate and organic glass. Theinvestigation developed shaping titanium mesh by multi-pointforming technique to solve the hardness of shaping titanium mesh,and approvement in clinical practice. Selecting 172 patients sufferedfrom skull defect have been cured in our hospital, within them 54patients adopt multi-point forming technique in titanium meshshaping and received satisfactory results. The main respects of this study were as follows: 1.neurosurgeons' shaping workload before operations;2. operationaltime;3. the approving scale on shaping and complications afteroperations. 4. the follow-up visit after operations. The main results of this study were as follows: Repairing skull by titanium mesh with the technique ofmulti-point shaping can significantly shorten average operationaltime to (30±6) min compared with acrylate group (70±18min) andtitanium mesh traditional handwork shaping group (50±11min)(P<0.01);ease neurosurgeons' working intensity of shaping time to(5±1)min, compared with acrylate group (30±5min) and traditionalhandwork shaping group (20±3min) (P<0.05);improve patients'approving scale to 100% compared with acrylate group (91%) andtraditional handwork shaping group (95%) (P<0.05), andapprovement technique shaping group are even better.The main conclusions in the study.The quality of titanium mesh is obviously better than acrylate,repairing skull with multi-point forming technique is better thanhandwork in any aspects, improve patients' approving scale andreduce complications after operations.
