This study will provide more information to the genesis, development of meningioma and will also provide new theoretic basis for the development of therapy for this tumor.MATERIALS AND METHODSHistological sections of meningiomas resected in 1999-2002 were retrieved from the archives of the Department of Pathology of SIR RUN RUN SHAW Hospital. Methods: 62 cases tumor tissue samples were divided into three grade by H.E staining based on the published WHO classification standard of the nervous system tumors in 1993, benign , atypical and anaplastic (malignant).immunohistochemical method was used to examine theexpression of Bcl-2, P53 and Ki67 in meningioma. The labeling index (LI) defined as the percent of positive staining cells for each case was determined by counting 1000 tumor cells. The results of the expressions of Bcl-2, P53and Ki67 were analyzed by statistics with SPSS(version 11.5).RESULTKi67 and P53 immunostaining is nuclear-staining, Bcl-2 immunostaining is serous-staining, their labeling indices don't correlate with sex, age of patients and tumor size (P>0.05). But there is statistically significance between labeling indices (Ki67, P53 and Bcl-2) and WHO grades of meningiomas(P<0.01). But there is no significance about their expression with pathological subtypes of benign meningiomas (P>0.05). It had marked statistically significance between Ki-67 labeling indices and recurrence of meningiomas(P<0.01),also there is statistically significance between Bcl-2 labeling indices and recurrence of meningiomas(P<0.01).However, marked statistically significance wasn't tested P53 labeling indices and recurrence of meningiomas(P>0.05).In present study there was significance between Ki67, P53 and Bcl-2 expression(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS1. Ki67, P53 and Bcl-2 in meniniomas have the correlation with the histological grade of meningiomas , but not correlate with sex, age of patients and tumor size.2. There is no significance about Ki67, P53 and Bcl-2 expression with pathological subtypes of benign meningiomas3. Both Ki67 and Bcl-2 is a useful marker predicting behavior of meningioma, P53 is not useful as a prognostic marker in meningioma.4. There are correlation tightly between expression of Ki67, P53 and Bcl-2 in our research. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Meningioma, Ki-67, P53, Bcl-2, recurrence, Immunohistochemical | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
