Purpose: This single-institution study aims to find out the earlystage of diagnosis and investigate the factors related to curableresection of pancreatic Carcinoma, and to discuss the outcomes ofpatients with pancreatic Carcinoma undergone different approaches toobtain better efficacy. Methods: The clinical data of 422 patients with pancreaticCarcinoma undergone different treatment in The first hospital of JilinUniversity from January 1993 to December 2003 were retrospectivelyanalyzed, especially for the early syndrome, different surgicalapproaches. Results: The surgical resection rate is obviously lower interminal stages of pancreatic Carcinoma. The survival rates are relatedto the stages of TNM in radical resection(P<0.01). Compare to thegroups of palliative resection, bypass, and no operative therapy, themedian survival time is longer and the 1, 3, 5-year survival rate ishigher of patients after radical resection(P<0.01), however there areno difference among the groups of palliative resection, bypass, and nooperative therapy(P>0.05). Conclusions: The improvement of early diagnosis rate ofpancreatic Carcinoma can increase the median survival time and thesurvival rate obviously; The radical resection is the only effectiveprocedure to the pancreatic carcinoma, the palliative resection, bypass, and no operative therapy cannot prolong the survival rate of thepatient. Standardize the radical resection, improve the skills of clinicaloperator, and prevent by-syndrome can prolong the survival rate ofpancreatic Carcinoma.
