Objective: To investigate the effect and mechanism of Compound Traditional Chinese Medicine Unguent on the hypertrophic scar (HS) in rabbit ears. Methods: ① The experiment was completed in the Laboratory of Department of Plastic Surgery, Xijing Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University from July to October in 2005. Eight New Zealand rabbits (3~4 months year old) were chosen as experiment animals . ② The models of HS in ears were reproduced .One ear of each rabbit was classified into the experiment group randomly, and the other one into the control group. There were eight ears(forty-eight wounds) in each group. One day after epithelization, Compound Traditional Chinese Medicine Unguent was besmeared into the scars of the experiment group, and base material was used in the scars three times every day. ③On the 14th day, the incidence of HS was recorded.. Twenty-eight days later, the appearance of scars, micro-vessel number, blood flow of micro-circulation were observed. ④ The changes of histomorphology were studied with light microscope and electron microscope. The staining of VG, Sirius-red and polarization-microscopy were used to detected the area density of collagen fibers on area and collagen fiber I /III.⑤ x~2 test is used in the numeration data; T test is used in the measurement data. Results: All the ears of ten rabbits entered the result analysis. ①The quantity of HS in the experiment group is fewer than that in the control group. ②Change of appearance: After use of the drug ,the scars of the experiment group became depauperate markedly, higher than the skin slightly, close to the normal skin in colour and soft when touching; but they appeared proliferative in the control group and were higher than the skin obviously with red colour and hard when touching.③ Blood flow of micro-circulation: it was lower significantly in the...
