Objective: To research the expressions of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in ovarian tumors. To evaluate the clinical application of ZD1839 in recurrent ovarian cancer.Methods:(1)The immunohistochemical method was used to investigate the positive expression rates of EGFR in 90 samples of ovarian tumors and 10 of normal ovarian epithelial tissues. To analyze the expressions of EGFR in different ovarian tissues and the relationship between the expressions of EGFR and clinical stages, histological grades and pathology.(2)MTT assay was used to determine the drug sensitivity of 32 tissue specimens of fresh ovarian cancer.ZD1839 and cisplatin were used as chemotherapeutic agents and then analyze whether ZD1839 and cisplatin caused growth inhibition. To analyze the relationship between EGFR levels and ZD1839 activity. Results: (1)The positive expression rates and overexpression rates of EGFR in malignant tumors was higher than those in border line tumors, normal and benign tumors (p <0.05).The positive expression rates of EGFR in recurrent ovarian cancer were higher than those in primary ovarian cancer tissues. There was no significant difference in the expressions of EGFR among highly differentiated tumor, moderately and low differentiated tumors. The positive expression rates of EGFR in tumors ofâ…¢toâ…£stage were higher than those inâ… t oâ…¡stage, but the result had no significant difference. There was no significant difference in the EGFR expression in different kinds of ovarian cancer.(2)In 20 cisplatin resistance specimens, there are 5 specimens sensitive to ZD1839.In 32 specimens,the...
