Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of plasma concentrations of resistin on diabetic atherosclerosis.Method Color Doppler ultrasound was used to measure the intima-media thickness(IMT) and plaque of the common carotid artery in 63 cases of type 2 diabetic mellitus(T2DM).The patients were assigned to three groups based on IMT:the group with normal IMT(IMT<0.8mm); the group with thicker IMT(0.8mm≤IMT<1mm); the group with plaque (IMT≥1mm).Fasting plasma resistin was measured by ELISA in 63 cases of T2DM and 30 age- and sex-matched health controls. Results (1)By analysis of variance there were no significantly difference of age, course of diseases, BMI, TG, TC, DBP, HDL-C, LDL-C and FBG in those groups of T2DM;The SBP,HbA1c,FINS,HOMA-IR in the groups of plaque were significantly higher than those in the groups with normal IMT(p<0.05). (2)The plasma concentrations of resistin in those groups of T2DM were significantly higher than those in health controls(p<0.01); The plasma concentrations of resistin in the groups with thicker IMT were significantly higher than those in the groups with normal IMT(p<0.01);The plasma concentrations of resistin in the groups with plaque were significantly higher than those in the groups with thicker IMT(p<0.01).(3)Bivariste correlative...
