Expression And Significance Of Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen And Ki-67 Antigen In Chronic Liver Disase

Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and Ki-67 antigen in liver tissue of chronic hepatic disease. Methods: The expression of PCNA and Ki-67 was used by immunohisto-chemical SP method in 11 cases of chronic hepatitis and 47 cases of cirrhosis. The Sirius Red stain was used to determine the area density of collagen in liver tissue . Results: (1)The percetage of collagen area-density werel.4±1 %,12±3.1 % (p<0.001) in chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis, respectively.(2) The LI of PCNA and Ki-67 were 28.23±11.38%,67.48±7.9%,and 1.69±1.03 %,2.81±0.51 % (all p<0.001) in cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis,respectively .(3) There was positive correlation existing between LI of Ki-67 and PCNA(r=0.809,P<0.001) protein expression in chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis. (4)The LI of PCNA and Ki-67 were 38.91±2.63%,18.38±5.39%,and 2.48±0.54 %,0.95±0.77% (all p<0.001) ) in cirrhosis of C and B virus types,respectively.(5) There was no correlation between LI of PCNA ,Ki-67 and area-density of collagen fibrosis(p>0.05) in cirrhosis.Conclusion: ①The tissue of cirrhosis was mature and it's ability of proliferation was less than in chronic hepatitis. ②The cirrhousis of C virus type has more ability of proliferation than the cirrhosis B virus type. ③There was no correlation between the ability of proliferation and degree of fibrosis in cirrhosis.
