Over the past half century, a great development has been achieved in health sector in rural areas. However, compared to the economic development and increasing demand for health care, the problem of shortage of health resources, especially lack of proper health technologies, has not been well addressed. The existing health resources can't meet the need of treatment and prevention of health problems. How the technologies can be selected and available for the rural population is the challenge for health policy makers.In recent years, many health technologies have been developed by researchers. How to apply those technologies in medical practice is an important issue for studies. One of the purposes of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is to expand the applications of proper health technologies, reasonably install the health resources, and improve the efficiency of health care system, by providing scientific and reliable information and putting forward the explicit suggestion for health decision maker. Health technology assessment in our country is still in the early stage.The purpose of this study is to establish a scientific, systematic, integrated method on selection of proper health technologies for rural areas, and to apply the methodology to provide the scientific information for decisions-makers when they make choice about which health technologies should be selected.This research adopted comprehensive evaluation method to select the health technologies. Namely that according to the condition given, an evaluation value for each health technology needed assessment was given, with which to make an order.
