ObjectiveTo explore the prophylaxis of FC and the protection of seizure-induced cerebral damage in rats with topiramate ( TPM ) , phenobarbital(PB)and valproate(VPA),and to assess the differences in efficacy of various drugs in prevention of recurrent FC and on brain injuries.MethodsSprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into TPM,PB, VPA, NS and normal groups. Febrile convulsions were induced with hyperthermal bath at 45℃every other day at the same time of oral administration. Manifestation of convulsions and differences were observed in all these groups. After nine convulsions were induced, the ultrastructural changes of the hippocampal neurons were observed under the electron microscope, and the level of neuron special enolase(NSE)of blood serum was detected.
