| Objective: To investigate the prenatal diagnosis, relative management, and the relationship between the method of delivery, the fetus status and umbilical cord entanglement. Methods: 362 cord entanglement cases reported from January 2004 to December 2005 were analyzed retrospectively, compared with 400 cases pregnant women without cord entanglement at the same time. The relationship between the length of cord and the cord wrapping, the usage of prenatal examinations in detecting cord entanglement, the method of delivery and the effect to the fetus prognosis was evaluated.Result: The incidence of umbilical cord entanglement in this research was 24.1%, including 322 UCAN cases, occupying 89.0%.Compared with the control group, the percentage of too long umbilical cord was increasing with the number of cord wrapping circle. About 90.9% cord entanglement cases can be projected by combining prenatal B type ultrasonographic assessment and the FHR monitoring.
