Objective: To analyze the association of polymorphisms in the angiotensin-concerting enzyme (ACE) insertion/deletion (I/D) gene and β2-adrenergic receptor 16 locus gene with atrial fibrillation (AF) of southwest region the Han nationality in China. To explore the molecular biological genesis of atrial fibrillation through investigate the effects of gene polymorphisms in the structural remodeling of atrial myocardium.Methods: To select 118 unrelated subjects of southwest region the Han nationality in China from Kunming General Hospital(including 55 AF subjects and 63 non-AF subjects). The genotypes of ACE(I/D) gene and β2-AR16 locus gene were identified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and PCR-restricted fragment length polymorphism assay (RFLP-PCR). The serum concentration of carboxytermina propeptide of type I procollage and aminotermianl propeptide of type III procollage were measured by ELISA.Result: The frequency of the DD, ID, II, allele D, allele I genotype of ACE in AF group and control group was 32.76%, 41.8%, 25.5%, 53.6%, 46.4% and 19.0%, 44.4%, 36.5%, 41.2%, 58.7%; The frequency of the Gly16 homozygotes, Arg16 homozygotes, Glyl6/Argl6, allele Glyl6, allele Arg16 genotype of β2-AR16 locus gene in AF group and control group was 14.5%, 25.5%, 60%, 14.3%, 25.3% and 60.3%, 44.5%, 55.5%, 44.4%, 55.6%; Allele D genotype frequency were significantly different between AF and controls(P<0.05).The serum concentrations of PIP and PIIIP in AF group were higher than that in control group(P<0.05); and they in DD genotype patients were higher than in ID genotype and II genotype(P<0.05); After observed combined genotypes of the two genes, we found that the combined genotypes of the DD and Gly16 homozygotes had significant differences between AF group and control...
