Objective: To explore the metastasis of the cervical lymph node after the neck dissection in the laryngeal and hypopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods: From July 2004 to September 2005, neck dissections were performed within 27 cases of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal carcinoma in the Otolaryngolgical department of the Qilun hospital. There were 10 cases of laryngeal carcinoma , one was glottic carcinoma, the others were supraglottic carcinoma, and 17 cases of hypopharyngeal carcinoma, one of them came from postcricoid area, the others came from piriform sinus. The cervical soft tissues were divided by the standard of Sloankettering Memorial Group(Level I-VI) as soon as the soft tissues were dissected. Every visible lymph node in every area was dissected out sent to the pathological lab. The results of the pathology were recorded as they were divided. These cases were divided into different groups according to the preoperative palpation, cervical CT result, differentiation and T staging of the primartumor, the statistic results of which were recorded. The application value of preoperative palpation and cervical CT result in the diagnosis of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal carcinoma was searched, and the relationship between the differentiation and T staging of the primartumor and the metastasis was explored. Results: 27 cases of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal carcinoma were...
