Object: This study was aimed to investigate effect of estrogen(E2) and phytoestrogen on the impaired facial nerve of female adult castrated Sprague-Dawley rats. Methods: Having cut the right facial nerve of the female adult ovariectomized(OVX) SD rats to be the peripheral facial paralysis model, and divide all rats into 3 groups: group E2 (estrogen),group P(puerarin) and group NS(normal saline), and E2, P and NS be intraperitoneally injected after surgery. then detect the quantity of the facial motoneurons(FMNs) in the facial motor nucleus(FMN) with HE, Nissl's staining and Tunel method at the 3rd day,7th day and 15th day respectively after surgery, and morphologic changes of the facial motoneurons were examined through light microscopy.Results:1.the right taster of all the rats can't move after right facial nerve transected, blinking reflex (BR) is slow, and the right eye's closure reflex is weaken or can't be induced.2.there is no notable variation on the right facial motoneurons(FMNs) of all the rats at the 3rd day after surgery, and some facial...
