A recipe, comprised of Radix paeoniae alba and saponin isolated from stems and leaves of ginseng(SSLG), was one of the important 'Duiyao' which was used to activate blood and remove blood stasis. In this formula, paeoniae alba has the functions of promoting blood flow and remove blood stasis,antiplatelet agglomeration and inhibiting the spasmodism coronary artery. SSLG played a part in improving the coronary flow efficaciously in heart blood vascular system. The combination of the two ingredients shows an effective contribution in supporting healthy energy and curing both appearance and substance. There are several existing dosage forms of this recipe, such as tablet, capsule and drug granules, which have been applied to the treatment of coronary heart and angina pectoris with definite therapeutic effectiveness and neglectable side effects. Based on isolating and purifying the active parts of paeoniae alba, the Shenshao composite injection (SCI) was formulated by using the technology of lyopyilization. Stability researches, preliminary pharmacological experiments, and preparation of fingerprint chromatograms of the formula were conducted in this paper.Peoniflorin and panaxsaponin Re,Rg1, as typical principles were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively by using the methods of HPLC and TLC. These methods were proved to be trustworthy, and established a superordinary foundation for the further study of this preparation.The active parts of paeoniae alba were extracted by process of stream distillation using 80% alcohol as extractant, and the extractions were purified by adsorption of AB-8 resin. Quality of the intermediates was qualified, and total content of peoniflorin accounted for over 30 % in the intermediates.Shenshao composite injection was formulated by using the technology of lyopyilization. The prescription and technological process were optimized by the criterion of appearance, moisture and resolubility. The study showed that good products were available with 120 mg mannitol each bottle and the optimum freeze-drying process was as followed: pre-freeze for 10 hours under -25 ℃, then step up the temperature at the rate of 2℃/hr. The drug was dried for 10hours in vacuum under -15℃. After that, the temperature was raised to25℃ at the rate of 8℃/hr and went on drying for 5 hours in vacuum. Three months tests under room...
