Dendrobium denneanum belongs to Orchidaceae, which is a kind of precious Chinese herb. The Chinese herb Dendrobium is prepared from the dried stems of Dendrobium species, and has used as a tonic. Modern medical research has showed that Dendrobium is a multifunctional herb. Its functions include prevention and cure of pearl eye, improvement of digestive system, inhibiting and preventing cancer, regulation of immune system and cure of diabetes. The hypoglycemic function and mechanism of D. denneanum polysaccharides in diabetic mice were investigated by detecting fasting blood glucose in mice and sugar tolerance of rat, observing the trend of insulin content in blood serum of rat, and measuring the mice death rate in eclampsia.Orthogonal design was used to get the extraction technology of D. denneanum polysaccharides. And then, total polysaccharides content and the molecular average-weight (Mw) of relatively pure polysaccharides, which was available from the crude D. denneanum polysaccharides, were estimated. The results showed that the crude D. denneanum was obtained by 300mL water per 50g, refluxing and extracting for 3 times, 1.5 hours each time. The crude D. denneanum polysaccharides were isolated and purified with water and ethanol. A series of assay showed that 30.4% total polysaccharide content, and 128912 the molecular...
