Chinese Traditional Medicine is one of the important part conventional medicine in the world and it is also Chinese treasure. Recently, the international organizations pay much attention to the contents of heavy metal elements in Chinese Traditional Medicine (CTM), and the imported and exported medicines are regulated definitely. In order to walk out home and participate the competition of the international medicine market, the national standarded method and the controlled quality standard of heavy metal elements in CTM should be established, which must be based on the advanced countries'techniques and combined with the concrete situation in our country. The sources of heavy metals pollution are complex,so it is necessary to study the reasons and countermeasures of exceeded quota of it .In order to establish the controlled content standard of heavy metal elements in CTM, the advanced method of determination of heavy metal elements should firstly be established. Vapor generation ( hydride generation ) combined with modern atomic spectrometric detection has become one of the most powerful analytical tools for the determination of TCM, such as As,Bi,Se,Sn,Ge,Pb,Sb,Te,Tl and Cd. it has adopted chemical reaction and realized awaiting measuring component separated from a large number of organisms. It makes determination go on in a situation that there is no any basic spectrum interference. The sample is introduced by the way of gas which improves the efficiency of the sample entering and atomization, and greatly improves the sensitivity decrease the complicated matrix interference analysis and apply to element speciation analysis , It also becomes one of the important research directions in modern spectrum and mass spectrum. Vapor generation combines with the instrument measured perfectly, which opens up the new field in the species analysis, speciation analysis and separation, etc.Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES) have many advantages in terms of low detection limit, high precision, little matrix effect, wide linear range and simultaneous multi-elements determination, and it is widely used in trace-elemental analysis fields in recent years. Hydride Generation-Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry (HG-ICP-AES) expand detection power of ICP-AES to hydride-forming elements.
