Protective Effects And Mechanism Of ShaJi On Myocardial Infarction In Canines

With the great changes of living style, acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has become main disease threatening human health in the world. Acute myocardial infarction will occur when coronary blood flow suddenly reduce or discontinue. A safe and effective therapy that lightens the progression of myocardial ischemic injury would therefore be expected to provide considerable benefit.ShaJi (SJ) which is extracted from Elaeagnaceae contains most effective materials such as vitamin, fatty acid and anthoxanthin, etc. It is a traditional Chinese medicine and has a long medical history. Many pharmacology effects of SJ have been demonstrated. SJ have effects on regulating lipid metabolism, protecting myocardial cells and antagonizing arrhythmia. Moreover, it can increase the content of serum superoxide dismutase (SOD) and decrease the content of serum malondialdehyde (MDA). We investigated the protective effect of SJ on the area and degree of myocardial infarct, myocardial enzymology, cardiac oxygen metabolism and hemodynamics by ligation of left anterior descending artery of the anesthetized open chest canines. We observed pathology changes induced by acute myocardial infarction.Twenty-four canines were randomly divided into 4 groups, they are control group (saline), SXN 2.3mg·kg-1, SJ 4 mg·kg-1 and SJ 16 mg·kg-1.
