[Objective]: This paper will analyze the safety and effect of Emergent Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (EPCI) for patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).[Methods]: During October 2006 to March 2007, 25 AMI patients received EPCI. We will investigate the safety and effect of the EPCI.[Results] :The 25 AMI patients, 21 male and 4 female, aging from 35 to 92, with the average age of 64.24, received the EPCI in 12 hours. Among them, 15 had three-vessel lesions, 7 had two-vessel lesion and 2 had single vessel lesion. EPCI was successful in all the patients with the success rate which is up to 100%, however, one patient died of cardiogenic shock 10 hours after the PCI.[Conclusion]: Our results suggest that EPCI is safe with high success rate for the patients with acute myocardial infarction. EPCI can obtain thehigher reperfusion rate and lower death rate, protect the heart functions and improve the prognosis.
