Objective: To investigate the positive frequency of glutamic acid decarboxylase antibody(GAD-Ab) in newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients(T2DM) and analyze the clinical characteristics in patients with positive antibody. Methods: 126 newly-diagnosed T2DM patients were enrolled into measurement of GAD-Ab with radioligand assay and analyse the clinical characteristics of the GAD-Ab positive patients .Results: 1.The positive frequency of GAD-Ab in 126 newly-diagnosed T2DM patients was 7.1 % (9/126). the age of onset of which newly-diagnosed T2DM patients with the GAD-Ab positive is 32~52 years old , their BMI is 18.58~27.92 kg/m~2, their WHR is 0.84~0.98. The clinical characteristics of GAD-Ab positive patients compare withGAD-Ab negative group,it indicates that in GAD-Ab positive group patients are younger age (44.±5.7years vs 46.9 ± 11.58 years),and their BMI(22.27±3.21 vs 24.50± 3.47),and WHR(0.89 ± 0.05 vs 0.91 ± 0.06) are lower. Conclusions: The positive frequency of GAD-Ab in newly-diagnosed T2DM in our study are 7.1% . Type 2 diabetes with GAD-Ab positive have younger age at onset, lower BMI and WHR.
