BackgroundVertebrobasilar insufficiency is a kind of clinical familiarlycerebrovascular disease. The etiology and pathogenesis of it is notcompletely clear. Only western medicine can not properly cure this disease. The Variety clinical data show that traditional chinese medicine has abetter effect on it. But the research about Vertebrobasilar insufficiencyis lack of reliable research methods. There isn't have any uniformstandards for the diagnosis and treatment evaluation criteria. Andclinical screening for this disease is lack of standardized examinationand treatment.Clinicatpathway is a new medical management model, which can offerpatients a standardized examination and treatment, and it can improve theefficiency of hospital operations and improve health care quality, reducemedical costs.PurposeTo evaluate the existing clinicalpathway of Vertebrobasilarinsufficiency, and indicate the advantage and disadvantage.MethodsThe research took method of clinical non-random and contrast in thesame period. The patients fit the request were divided into theclinicalpathway group and non-clinicalpathway group. The patients ofclinicalpathway group are cured in clinicalpathways method, which is aintegrated therapy of TCM. To the patients of non-clinicalpathway group, were cured in normal ways. In the treatment, gathered the two groups'data such as their general data (sex, age…etc), course of illness, thevertigo state when they came and how they felt when they left the hospital, the time they being in hospital, the expenses and how the Chinese medicineways carried out. After the data were collected, use SPSS11.5 to recordthe data and analyze it.ResultIn this research, 82 cases were collected and among them theclinicalpathway group was 40 cases, the non- clinicalpathway group was42cases, no case were rejected. The baseline of two groups was camparable, which included sex, age, course of illness, basical disease, their vertigostate when they came to the hospital (P>0.05). The therapy effects tothe clinicalpathway group was better to the non-clinicalpathway group. And the time being in hospital was reduced when compared to thenon-clinicalpathway group(P<0.05). And there are no differences in theexpenses and how the Chinese medicine ways were carried out.ConclusionComparing to the non-clinicalpathway group, the integrated treatmentprotocol of Vertebrobasilar insufficiency has its own merit in boostingup the treatment and curtailing the cure time. But it also has its ownshortcoming, it need us make further study on it and as a result improveit.
