| Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of massage method in the treatment of chronictonsillitis and explore its therapeatic mechanism.Method: One hundred and twenty cases were divided randomly into two groups-treatingand control groups, and were observed after one course of treatment. The treating group wastreated with massage method, the control group was treated with Xiao'er Yanbian Keli. Thechanges of clinical symptoms, physical sign and times of recrudescence in all patients wereobserved before and after treatment. The level T lymphocyte subsets of 30 patients who werechosen randomly from treating group were observed before and after treatment. Results: The efficacy rate achieved in treating group were 90.48%, which was significantlybetter than that of the control group(79.95%). After treatment the scores of main symptomsand physical sign in treating group were more significantly decreased than those in controlgroup respectively (P<0.01). The times of recrudescence in treating group decreased moreobviously than that in control group. The level of CD3~+,CD4~+ and CD4~+/CD8~+ of 30 patientswho were chosen randomly from treating group increased obviously after treatment(P<0.01 or 0.05).Conclusion: The massage method demonstrated satisfactory results in the treatment ofchronic tonsillitis. The main symptoms and physical sign had been improved obviously, thetime of outbreak had been decreased significantly and the patients' immunity had beenincreased.
