The genus Dictamnus, belonging to Rutaceae family, consists of about 5 species in the world which widely distribute in Europe and north Asia; in China, only 1 specie mainly distributes in northwest, northeast, and south of Jiangxi province etc. Dictamnus dasycarpus Turcz is one of the species with medical function in the genus Dictamnus. Its roots have long been used as Chinese folk medicine with the efficacy of curing urticaria, relieving internal heat or fever, preventing itch, as well as killing worms etc., and are generally used for the treatment of jaundice, rheumatism, febricity, cephalalgia, and various other diseases. In order to explore much more pharmacological constituents of genus Dictamnus, this thesis systematically and thoroughly studied the chemical constituents of the roots of D. dasycarpus Turcz. The chemical constituents of EtOAc and n-Butanol extracts were respectively isolated by means of silica gel column chromatography (CC), preparative thin layer column (PTLC) and recrystallization etc, and 38 compounds were obtained; the structures of 32 compounds were elucidated on the basis of modern spectroscopic methods: IR, EI-MS, HR-ESI-MS, 1D NMR(1H NMR, 13C NMR, DEPT and NOE), 2D NMR (1H-1H COSY, HMQC, HMBC and NOESY), X-ray single-crystal diffraction as well as CD spectra, along with comparison with authentic samples or the data from literature, and proper chemical transformations (acetylation). They were identified as norguaiane-type sesquiterpenes, limonoid-type triterpenes, furoquinoline alkaloids, coumarins, and steroides etc, two of which were new compounds. In addition, for the compounds which were separated from the EtOAc extracts, the bioactive experiments of antibacterial (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Bacillus subtilis) were carried out; the results are that all the compounds show the slight activities of antibacteria. In the end of the thesis, one review was made on the systemic summarization for the chemical constituents of the genus Dictamnus reported in the past thirty years. The results of the investigation were expected to enrich the database of natural products, to afford the scientific basis of pharmacology, chemotaxonomy and screening of new medicines, and to help the utilization of the Chinese natural resources as well as the research of Chinese herbal modernization.
