ObjectiveCervicogenic headache is a syndrome characterized by chronic hemicranias pain that is referred to the head from either bony structures or soft tissues of the neck. This headaches located predominantly in the forehead, or behind, in and around the eyes. As the development of modern social and the change of life pattern, the incidence rate of cervicogenic headache has increased. Besides, the age of onset of this illness has been younger than before. It has practical importance to research the security, convenient, utility therapeutics and to strengthen the study in cervicogenic headache.MethodsA randomized contrast study is adopted for a prospective experimentation on 57 cases of cervicogenic headache, which were divided into two groups. The intervention for the experimental group included blood-letting puncture combined with electroacupuncture with 28 cases; while the central group was only electroacupuncture with 29 cases. Treatment was given one of two days. A course includes 2 weeks. Just before the commencement and after the completion of 2 courses of treatment, each case was checked for exponent of ache,ROM scores (the range of motion of the neck ROM),VAS scores(the pain degree numeric rating scale NRS).Results①The result from the analysis of clinical data manifests that in blood-letting puncture treating group healed 12 cases, obvious effects 12 cases, effects 2 cases, inefficiency 2 cases, the total effective rate was 92.86%, and healed 8 cases, obvious effects 13 cases, effects 5 cases inefficiency 3 cases, the total effective rate was 89.66% in control group. There is no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05), but treatment group is superior to the control group during the Radit analysis.②From the ROM scores and VAS scores of the pre-and post-treatment, there are statistic significant both of the two groups(P<0.01). The results showed that the two groups all can relieve the pain degree and the motion of the neck. From the difference of ROM scores, there are statistic significant between the two groups(P=0.004). From the difference of the VAS scores, there aren't statistic significant between the two groups(P<0.05). So the treatment group is more utility in relieve the motion of the neck than the control group.③From the difference of VAS scores of the pre-and post-treatment, there are statistic significant between the two groups(P<0.05). The results 'showed that the treatment group is a good way to relieve ache in a short time than the control group.④Both groups have the significant difference in the exponent of ache, by compare the pre-and post-treatment. But the percentage of therapeutic effect has statistic significant between the two groups(P<0.05), so the treatment group is more utility in improve the symptom than the control group.ConclusionsFrom the results of the clinical and experimental research, we consider that blood-letting puncture combined with electroacupuncture and only electroacupuncture could all improve the symptom of Cervicogenic headache, such as the degree of ache, frequency and duration, but the is superior than the only electroacupuncture group. Especially, blood-letting is a good way to relieve ache in a short time than the control group.
