| Objective:To study the clinical outcome of autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation(Auto-PBSCT)and allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation(Allo-PBSCT)in the treatment of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL).Methods:The clinical data and outcome of 5 NHL patients with Auto-PBSCT and 8 NHL patients with Allo-PBSCT in our hospital from 2002 to 2006 were analyzed retrospectively. The median follow-up duration was 11 (range 3-58)months.Results:(1)All patients obtained prompt and sustained hematopoietic reconstitution after PBSCT.The median time of neutrophil cell engraftment in Auto-PBSCT and Allo-PBSCT group were 10(range 8-15)days and 14(range 10-17)days respectively(P>0.05),the median time of platelet engraftment in Auto-PBSCT and Allo-PBSCT group were 11(range 9-24)days and 12(range 8-17)days respectively(P>0.05).(2)All patients were complete remission after PBSCT in the group of Auto-PBSCT,the effective rate was 100%;Seven patients were complete remission and 1 patient was partial remission in the group of Allo-PBSCT,the effective rate was 100%.(3)At the end-point of follow-up duration, four patients were alive(2 free of disease and 2 relapsed) and 1 patient died(died of relapse)in the group of Auto-PBSCT.Six patients were alive(5 free of disease and 1 partial remission)and 2 patients died(1 died of relapse and 1 died of cGVHD)in the group of Allo-PBSCT.The prospective overall survival(OS)at 1-year in Auto-PBSCT and Allo-PBSCT group were 80.0%and 85.7%respectively,the prospective disease free survival(DFS)at 1-year in Auto-PBSCT and Allo-PBSCT group were 26.7%and 85.7% respectively.(4)The transplant-related mortality(TRM)in Auto-PBSCT and Allo-PBSCT group were 0%and 12.5%(1/8)respectively.Conclusion- High dose chemoradiotherapy combined with Autologous or Allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation is a highly potential therapeutic treatment for NHL.Allo-PBSCT for NHL is associated with fewer relapses than with Auto-PBSCT,but higher TRM offsets any potential survival benefit. However, further clinical investigation is warranted. |
