Objective:To investigate the levels of interleukin 6,8(IL- 6,IL-8)and tumor necrosis factor- alpha(TNF-a)in serum and peritoneal fluid(PF)of patients with endometriosis(EM)and their role on pathogenesis of EM.Methods:IL- 6,IL- 8 and TNF -acontents in serum and PF of 40 cases with EM were detected by enzyme linked immunoabsorbent assay and compared with the counterparts of 18 cases without EM(Controls). The correlation analyses between IL- 6,IL- 8,TNF -aconcentrations in serum and PF of EM patients and severity of EM were performed. Results:The serum and PF from patients with EM contained significantly greater amounts of IL-6(serum:34.75±15.33 pg/ml;PF:116.79±164. 55pg/ml),IL-8(serum:53.49±43.25pg/ml,PF:155.56±190.99 pg/ ml),TNF-a(Serum:34.09±19.28 pg/ml,PF:35.92±20.13 pg/ml)than those in controls(Serum:17.25±4.97 pg/ml,18.15±6.38 pg/ml,11.15±3.71 pg/ml;PF:21.51±8.44 pg/ml,20.15±6.38 pg/ml,12.53±7.15 pg/ml, respectively)(P<0.01).The highest serum and PF IL- 6,IL-8,TNF -aconcentration were found in stageⅢ~Ⅳ.There were significantly higher levels of IL-6,IL-8 in PF than in serum of patients with EM(P<0.01~0. 05),but no difference was found in TNF -abetween serum and PF(P>0.05).Conclusion:Increased levels of IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-aLevels in serum and PF account for imbalance of the immunologically dynamic environment in serum and peritoneal fluid of EM patients, which may be the cause of pathogenesis of EM. |
