Objective: To study the expression and the clinical significance of BRCA1 and BRCA2 in the breast carcinoma and breast benign lesion in Xinjiang Uygur women. Methods: 136 cases of breast carcinoma tissues and 30 cases of benign lesion tissues were examined by tissue microarray technology and immunochemical method in Xinjiang Uygur women form January 2003 to December 2005. Result: 1) the expression of BRCA1 and BRCA2 between the conventional technique and the tissue microarray technique is not difference(P<0.05). 2) The expressive rate of BRCA1 and BRCA2 in breast cancer is lower than breast benign lesions (P<0.05). 3) Positive location in breast carcinoma cells is located in the cell cytoplasm,or presened both in the nucleus and cytoplasm, but only expression in the nuclear in the benign lesions. 4) the expression of BRCA1 is significant with the age of patients and the axillary nodal metastases (P<0.05). but the expressive difference of BRCA1 is insignificant with the size of tumor, the histological type and whether the patient presented the menopause (P>0.05). 5)The expression of BRCA2 is insignificant correlation with the size of tumor, axillary nodal metastases, the age, the histological type and having or not menopause(P>0.05). 6) The expression between BRCA1 and BRCA2 in breast carcinomas is insignificant(P>0.05).Conclusion: The degrading of the expression of BRCA1 and BRCA2 in breast carcinoma cells directs that has important significance in the genesis and development of breast carcinoma and takes advantage of screening high-risk group of breast carcinoma. However the role of BRCA1 and BRCA2 in the genesis and development of the breast carcinoma is independent.
