| Objectives: To study the effect of Xinzhi Bimin capsule on the content of nitric oxide in blood serum and expression of iNOS mRNA in nasal mucosa of allergic rhinitis, and identify the mechanism of pharmacodynamic action. Methods: Ovalbumin sensitized rats used as animal of AR were taken orally with the Xinzhi Bimin capsule. Nitric oxide in serum was measured by nitrate reductase. The expression of iNOS mRNA in nasal mucosa of rat were observed by revers transcriptive polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Results: The content of nitric oxide in blood serum: model group (57.28±3.76)was higer than the experimental group (29.11±2.63), positive control group (45.80±6.47)and normal control group (17.40±3.76) (P<0.05) .The expression of iNOS mRNA in nasal mucosa of rat: model group (1.1899±0.078) was higer than the experimental group (0.7648±0.061) positive control group (0.9732±0.055) (P < 0.05), and no expression in normal control group. The content of nitric oxide in blood serum were lower in the experimental group than the model group(p<0.05)and the positive control group, moreover, the expression of iNOS mRNA in nasal mucosa of rat in the experimental group was lower compared to the model group and the positive control group. Conclusions: The result suggests that the capsule of Xinzhi Bimin can reduce the expression of iNOS mRNA in nasal mucosa of rat and down-regulating the content of nitric oxide in blood serum and treat the symptom of AR in rat. |
