Objective: To investigate the feasibility of neoadjuvant chemotherapy applied on patients with unresectable epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). To investigate the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in advanced ovarian cancer. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 64 advanced ovarian carcinoma patients was conducted to compare outcomes during 2003 to 2007,when 29 patients neoadjuvant chemotherapy used ,when 35 patients underwent primary cyeoreductive surgery. Results: The tumor resection rate in the patient group receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapywas significantly higher ( P < 0.05) than that of the conventional group. Conclusions: Higher tumor resection rates and better prognosis can be achieved in advanced ovarian cancer patients by the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
