| Objective: To explore the significance of regional lymph node dissection in pancreaticoduodenectomy in treating patients with the carcinoma of the head of the pancreas and periampullary adenocarcinoma. Methods: The clinical data of 24 case of carcinoma of the head of the pancreas and periampullary adenocarcinoma subjected to regional lymph node dissection in pancreaticoduodenectomy from Feburary 2005 to March 2007 were analyzed. Results: Twleve of 24 cases were lymph node positive (50.0%) and the positive rate in cases with the head of the pancreas and periampullary adenocarcinoma was not different in the location, the size and the histologic differentiation degree. Conclusions: Regional lymph node dissection in treating patients with the carcinoma of the head of the pancreas and periampullary adenocarcinoma appears to be necessarily. |
