Objective To investigate the expression of Survivin and its relationship with the expression of B-cell lymphoma / leukemia-2(Bcl-2) in condyloma acuminatum(CA).Method Immunohistochemical S-P method was employed to detect the expression of Survivin and Bcl-2 in 60 cases of CA and 10 cases of prepuce of mature men. To calculate the percentage of positive cells under the microscopic examination. All of analyses were performed by SPSS11.5 software package. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant in all tests.Result Survivin was expressed in 52 of 60(86.67%)cases of CA and 2 of 10(20%) cases of normal prepuce tissues.Expression of Survivin was significantly higher in CA than in normal prepuce tissues( P<0.01).It was different for positive rate of Survivin in every layer in CA.The positive rate in stratum spinosum was 95.00%,which was higher than 80.88% in basal layer and 78.33%in stratum granulosum( P<0.05). But no difference could be found between basal layer and stratum granulosum. In normal prepuce tissues, positive cells were mostly distributed in basal layer. The positive rate of Bcl-2 in CA is 66.67%,while there is no expression of Bcl-2 in normal prepuce tissues.Expression of Survivin was positively related to expression of Bcl-2( P<0.01). Conclusion Survivin may play an important role in the pathway of development of CA and it may be identified as a new therapeutic target.Anti-apoptosis related gene Bcl-2 may have a synergic role with survivin in the development of CA.These may expand a new diea of therapeutic alliance with the treatment of CA.
