Hpertension is closely related with the heart events, and is an independent risk of the cardiovascular events. We usually use systolic blood pressure(SBP)and diastolic blood pressure(DBP)as indexes of diagnosis, treatment and forecast of cardiovascular events. Pulse pressure (PP) is the margin of SBP and DBP.PP represent the blood pressure in the dynamic components.PP is not only reflects the arterial wall flexibility and rigidity, but also can affect blood vessels and the target organ structure and function. Some clinical trials indicated that PP was a more effective predictor of cardio- vascular events. And in recent years, the research on whether PP become a cardiovascular disease risk factors independent of the hypertension gradually increased. In this study, Through analysis the correlation of PP , left ventricular mass(LVM)and severity of coronary artery disease to observat the impact on left ventricular function and CHD degree of patients. Objective: To study the relationship between PP and LMV, severity of coronary artery disease. To study whether PP is a cardiovascular disease risk factors independent of the hyperten sion.Method:240 patients(153 males,87 females) were selected. The mean age was 59.03±8.13 years old.All patients underwent coronary angiography. The subjects were divided into two groups according to the PP.One group included the patients whose PP≥50mmHg,the other group have patients with PP<50mmHg. Each group was divided into two subgroup:hypertebsion and normotensive subgroup. We measured the LVEDd,LVPW and IVS according to echocardiography. LVM(g) =0.8[1.04 (IVS + LVEDd +LVPW)3- LVEDd 3]+0.6.Coronary artery score (Gensini score) was calculated for assessing the severity of coronary artery stenosis. Results:the LMV in PP≥50 mmHg group is much higher than that of PP<50mmHg group, the difference was signifycantly (P<0.001).The morbidity of CHD,Gensini score in PP≥50 mmHg group is much higher than that of PP< 50 mmHg group, the difference was significantly(P<0.001).Gender,age, whethersmoking, FBS,TG,TC,HDL -C and LDL-C had no difference between two groups (P>0.05). Each group was divided into two subgroup: Hypertebsion and normotensive subgroup. Gender, age, whether smoking,FBS,TG, TC,HDL-C and LDL-C had no difference between subgroup (P>0.05).As a result the LMV,morbidity of CHD,Gensini score had no differrence between subgroup(P>0.05). Tip that whether with hypertension, the PP can impact on LMV, morbidity of CHD ,and severity of coronary artery disease. Conclusion:The LMV ,morbidity of CHD ,Gensini score in PP≥50 mmHg group is much higher than that of PP< 50 mmHg group. Whether with hypertension, PP increased is a cardiovascular disease risk factors.
