Comparison Of Effects Of Sevoflurane And Isoflurane On Neuromuscular Block Produced By Vecuronium And Awakening From General Anesthesia

Object: To compare the effects of isoflurane and sevoflurane on the vecuronium-induced neuromuscular block and the awakening from general anaesthesia.Method: Forty patients undergoing general anesthesia, ASA II~III, were randomly allocated into two groups, group A (n=20, isoflurane group) and group B(n=20, sevoflurane group). Choose less than 2-hour operations almost not needing muscle-relax. Both groups were induced with midazolam,sufentanil,propofol and vecuronium, maintained only with inhalation of 1.3MAC end-tidal concentration of either isoflurane (Group A) or sevoflurane (Group B). Not cut off inhalation anesthetic until the operation finished. Blood pressure (BP), Heart rate(HR) and Saturation of blood oxygen (Spo2) were monitored after the patients got into the operating room. Thumb adductorius contractile response was monitored with TOF stimulation. The clinical muscle-relax time (T1 to returned to 25%) and the recovery index (TOF ratio from 25% to 75%) were calculated. Take a recorder of awake time, awake status and do a follow up study to make sure whether the patients have suffered from awareness and pain. Statictical analysis: All measured and calculated data described were presented as mean values with standard deviations ( x±s). Software SPSS 12.0 was applied for analyzing the data. Independent t tests for two independent samples were performed as appropriate to compare intergroup differences. A value of P<0.05 was considered to be statistically significant.Results: There is no statistic meaning of the clinical muscle-relax time and the recovery index between the two groups (P>0.05). Awake time, restless after extubation and drowsiness, group B were less than group A. None from two groups was suffered from awareness. There were a patient from group A and a patient from group B feeling nausea. There was a patient in group A suffered from vomitting while in group B there was none.Conclusion: By comparing with isoflurane sevoflurane has so many advantages: shorter awakening time,more comfortable awakening course,less anaesthesia complication.
