ObjectiveThe aim of this study is to evaluate the correlation between 64-CT perfusion imaging and Expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor(VEGF)and Microvessel Density(MVD)in breast masses.Methods64-CT perfusion imaging of the breast was performed in 20 breast masses(12 breast malignant masses,8 breast benign masses)with pathologically verified.64-CT perfusion was performed on SOMATOM Sensation 64(Siemens,Germany),The data were processed by syngo Body PCT(Siemens,Germany)software package,and the mean blood flow(BF),blood volume(BV)and permeability(PS)within region of interest(ROI)were measured.The correlations of CT perfusion parameters with expression of VEGF and MVD were analyzed.ResultMean values of BF,BV,PS of Breast malignant masses are 1.045±0.301 ml/ml/min,0.175±0.675ml/ml,0.501±0.149ml/ml/min,meanvalues of BF,BV,PS of breast benign masses are 0.346±0.181 ml/ml/min,0.082±0.045 ml/ml,0.235±0.127ml/ml/min,breast malignant masses show higher values of BF,BV,PS compared to breast benign masses by the independent sample t test(P<0.05).In breast malignant masses,the values of BF,MVD,LVN were higher in peripheral tissue than central tissue by the paired sample t test(P<05),Mean values of BF,BV,PS,MVD and LVN in peripheral of breast malignant masses are 1.076±0.265ml/ml/min,0.206±0.079 ml/ml,0.490±0.133 ml/ml/min,32.00±4.63,26.92±4.58,mean values of BF,BV,PS,MVD and LVN in central of breast malignant masses are 0.852±0.206 ml/ml/min,0.161±0.050 ml/ml,0.392±0.142 ml/ml/min,26.92±4.58,13.08±3.09. The values of BF,PS in cases with VEGF positivity were significant higher than that of VEGF negativity(P<0.05),mean values of BF,BV,PS and MVD of VEGF positive masses are 0.935±0.392 ml/ml/min,0.155±0.074 ml/ml,0.471±0.176 ml/ml/min,33.92±11.94,mean values of BF,BV,PS and MVD of VEGF negative masses are 0.510±0.380 ml/ml/min,0.091±0.077 ml/ml,0.280±0.162 ml/ml/min,23.38±11.76.ConclusionCT perfusion parameters of breast masses are closely related to expression of VEGF and MVD.The CT perfusion parameters could assist in discriminating breast malignant masses from benign masses and predict biological behaviour of breast cancer.
