Objective:To explore the relationships between sex hormones and the onset of uterine leiomyoma. Methods:The levels of peripheral estradiol(E2),luteinizing hormone(LH),prolactin(PRL),follicle stimulating hormone(FSH),progesterone(P) and testosterone(T) were measured through radioimmunoassay in 30 patients with uterine leiomyoma who underwent surgical treatment in our hospital from August in 2005 to August in 2007 and a control group of 30 healthy women in the same time. Results:In the patients, the serum E2,PRL,LH,FSH,P,T levels were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The attack of uterine leiomyoma has close relation to E2,PRL,P and T levels.and the levels of FSH and LH have a little to do with the attack of uterine leiomyoma.Determination of serum E2,FSH,LH,PRL,T and P levels is of help for assessment of severity of patients with uterine leiomyoma as well as outcome prediction.
