Objective:To investigate the therapeutic response rate and survival of locally advanced pancreatic cancer treated with radio-chemotherapy.Methods and Materials:From September 1996 to December 2006,Department of Radiation Oncology,PLA General Hospital of Shenyang Command treated fifty-four patients with stageâ…¡-â…¢pancreatic cancer with three dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) or IntensityModulation Radiated Therapy(IMRT) plus regional intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy (CT) , the regional intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy applied the"ADF"scheme, which included Adriamycin(60mg),Cisplatin (100mg) and 5-FU(1000-1250mg),soon after the chemotherapy, radiotherapy was received. Therapeutic evaluation applied the standard of clinical benefit response and evaluation standard of solid tumor for WHO, the judgment of toxic side effects relied on the acute radiation injury classification. Life table method was applied for the survival rate. Results:The index of clinical benefit response(CBR) for locally advanced pancreatic cancer was 72.2%(39/54), while the overall response (CR + PR) rate was 77.3%. The 1,2,3 year survival rates were 71.8%,48.7%,10.3%,the median survival was 19.7 months. Conclusions:Three dimensional conformal or Intensity Modulation radiation therapy combined with regional intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy is an effective the treatment for unresectable locally advanced pancreatic cancer.
