Objective:To study the optimum mental measurement and mental intervention method suit the mental features of patients with protrusion of intervertebral disc operation.Methods:120 patients with protrusion of intervertebral disc operation were divided into test group(80 patients) and control group(40 patients),and the test group was further divided into 2 groups:physician intervention group and nurse intervention group. The test group was given mental intervention and the control group not. Before mental intervention, patients of the test group and the control group were given questionnaire inventories of Beck Anxiety Inventory(BAI) and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD).The second questionnaire inventory was carried out after the mental intervention, the time was within one week after operation.BAI was filled out by the patients,HAMD was carded out by the investigater according to the statement of patients. The mental intervention measures were: listening, explanation, direction, encouragement, asymptotic relaxation therapy and music therapy. Results:Of the patients with protrusion of intervertebral disc operation, before the mental intervention, the scores of BAI and HAMD of the test group and the control group were higher than the diagnosis standard score(p<0.01),the anxiety rates of the 2 groups were within 97.5%~100%,the depression rates were within 97.5%~100%.After the mental intervention, the scores of BAI and HAMD of the physician intervention group and the nurse intervention group were lower than the diagnosis standard score(p<0.01),but the scores of BAI and HAMD of the control group were higher than the diagnosis standard score(p<0.01),the anxiety rates of the physician intervention group, the nurse intervention group and the control group were 2.5%,45% and 100%,the depression rates of the three groups were 0%,50%and 100%respectively.Statistics tests showed that the anxiety rate and the depression rate of the physician intervention group and the nurse intervention group were lower than the control group, the 2 rates of the physician intervention group was much lower than the the nurse intervention group and the control group. The scores of BAI and HAMD,the anxiety rate and the depression rate of the physician intervention group and the physician intervention group after mental intervention were all lower than that before mental intervention. The scores and rates of the control group without mental intervention had no apparent change before and after operation. The satisfaction degree of the discharged patients was negatively related to the scores of BAI and HAMD after mental intervention and was positively related to intervention types and therapy result. The values of the correlation coefficient showed that the impacts of intervention types and therapy result were harder than the scores of anxiety and depression questionnaire. The BAI score was positively related to the HAMD score. Conclusions:Patients with protrusion of intervertebral disc operation have severe anxiety and depression symptoms, mental intervention can relieve the symptoms effectively. The factors affect the satisfaction degrees of the patients from the greatest to the least in turn were:intervention type, therapy result, anxiety and depression degrees after mental intervention. The physician have great effects in mental nursing.BAI and HAMD were optimal for the anxiety and depression symptoms survey for patients with protrusion of intervertebral disc operation.
