Objective To study the reliability of deep-frozen allogeneic tendons as asubstitute of autograft and the biological changes. Methods The model of defect repair of the flexor tendon of chicks' thirdphalanx was used.Deep-frozen allogeneic tendons were taken as treatmentgroup and autigenous ones as controls. The Morphology, biochemistry andbiomechanical tests were performed on both of them before transplantation andin 4,8,16,32 and 48 weeks after transplantation. Results There were no differences in Morphology, biochemistry andmechanical tests between the 2 groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The biological changes of deep-frozen allograft are the same withautograft and it can substitute for autograft in repairing the tendon defect.
