Objective: To investigate the changes and relevance in neonates at different stage of neuron specific enolase and cardiac type isoenzyme of creatine phosphokinase in serum with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, further to identify whether it has some clinic significance on early diagnosis in neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. Methods: 24 moderate or severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy neonates in acute stage (within 24 hours after birth) and in convalescence stage (10-14 day after birth) were collected blood of femoral vein respectively. 22 normal newborns which are regarded as control group were collected blood of femoral vein after 3 day of birth. And serum was separated to get ready for determination of neuron specific enolase and cardiac type isoenzyme of creatine phosphokinase. Detection of NSE and CK-MB in serum was adopted enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and enzymatic motivation assay respectively. Results: The activity of neuron specific enolase and cardiac type isoenzyme of creatine phosphokinase in neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy was significantly higher than that of control group at the acute stage (P<0.01); at the convalescence stage, both of them descend, but was still higher than normal control group (P<0.01). There was statistical significance about difference. And there were positive correlations between them at both acute and convalescence stage. The correlation coefficients were 0.918,0.834 respectively (P<0.01).Conclusion: Neuron specific enolase and cardiac type isoenzyme of creatine phosphokinase can help inchoately diagnose hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy; they were regarded as index of inchoate evaluation the degree of brain injury with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy neonates.
