Pharmacoeconomic Analysis Of Zoledronic Acid In Treatment With Metastatic Bone Pain Of Malignancy In Lung Cancer Patients

OBJECTIVESTo evaluate zoledronic acid in treatment of metastatic bone pain of malignancy in patients with lung cancer in the way of pharmacoeconomics,compared with pamidronate.To provide a effective, safe and economical alternative.METHODSThe randomized,and prospective trial was conducted in patients with metastatic bone pain of malignancy from Janurary 2006 and February 2007.1.Made a record of age,gender,number of malignancy of al the patients before the treatment.Assess the pain degree,Karnofsky and the quality of life.2.78 patients with lung cancer were randomly divided into either of two groups:the zoledronic acid treated group with 40 patients received a single intravenous infusion of 4mg zoledronic acid,and pamidronate treated group with 38 patients received a single intravenous infusion of 90mg pamidronate.The patients were followed up for 10 days to assess the efficacy and safety of the treatment.3.Carried out a effectiveness analysis and a cost analysis. 4.Perform a Pharmacoeconomic analysis.RESULTS1.Among the patients,there are 20 females,58 males;the youngest is 45-year-old,the oldest is 78-year-old,and the average is 59-year-old.40 patients in zoledronic acid treated group and 38 patients in pamidronate treated group.The P value for these rates showed no statistic difference.2.The pain relief rate of zoledronic acid and pamidronate was 82.50% and 76.31%respectively.The total incidence of adverse reactions was 32.50%和28.94%respectively.The P value for these rates showed no statistic difference.The cost of zoledronic acid and pamidronate was 3568.81±487.17 yuan的4656.70±555.57 yuan respectively.The P value for the rate showed a statistic difference.3.The pain relief rate has a obvious relationship with the cost.The P value for the rate showed a statistic difference.CONCLUSIONSZoledronic acid is a safe,efficient and economic alternative in the pain relief malignancy in patients with lung cancer compared with pamidronate.And it is convient to infuse.Pharmacoeconomic analysis evaluate the treatment considering both the cost and the effect.It will provide a rational reference for clinical use.
