Objective To study the mutation in three exons of BRCA1 gene in sporadic gastric cancer, and to study the relationship between BRCA1 mutation and gastric cancer. Methods A total of 45 patients with gastric cancer without blood relationship were randomly selected. Polymerase chain reaction(PCR) Single-strand conformational polymorphism(SSCP) was used to test the mutation of exons 2,11,20 of BRCA1.Results No mutations were found in exons 2,11 and 20. Conclusion 185 delAG and 5382insC which are high mutation sites in Ashkenazi Jewish women and 3232A→G which is reported in familial breast cancer, the gene sequence of what we have studied doesn't account much for occurrence of the sporadic gastric cancer in the population of China .The relationship between the sporadic gastric cancer and BRCA1 mutations should be confirmed by farther study.
