Clinical Study Of Qianghuo Shengfeng Decoction Combined With Acyclovir Treat On Herpes Simplex Keratitis

Objective: To observe clinical effect of Chinese Medicines (Qianghuo Shengfeng decoction) combined with acyclovir (ACV) on the Herpes Simplex Keratitis (HSK) of Epithelial type and Shallow—and—Middle- stromal type and belonged to GanJinFengRe type in TCM. Measured the tear immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA) content before and after therapy, Discuss the mechanisms of Chinese medicine treatment of HSK.Methods: Forty-five patients (47 eyes) were divided randomly into the treatment group and the control group, twenty-two patients(23 eyes) in the treatment group and twenty-three (24 eyes) in the other. Patients in the treatment group were treated with Chinese medicines (Qianghuo Shengfeng decoction) combined with ACV. Patients in the control group were treated with western medcine simply. The clinical therapeutic effectiveness was observed in two groups. And patients' tear immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA) content was measured before and after treatment and the results was analyzed.Results: Firstly, 7 days after treatment, Treatment group was better than the control group in improving eye irritation symptoms, such as pain, photophobia, tears and so on, there was significant difference in the two groups (P<0.05) .Secondly, 28 days after treatment, the treatment groups overall effect was better than the control group , there was significant difference in the two groups (P<0.05) . Thirdly, 28 days after treatment, the treatment groups was better in improving visual acuity, there was significant difference in the two groups (P<0.01) . Fourthly, Treatment time of the treatment group was shorter than the control group, there was significant difference in the two groups (P<0.05) .Fifthly, Treatment groups recurrence rate was lower than the control group, there was significant difference in the two groups (P<0.05). Sixthly,in the treatment group ,the tear immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA) content was significant different before and after treatment (P<0.01) , in the control group there was no significant difference (P>0.05) .Conclusions: 1. Treatment efficacy of Chinese medicine combined with ACV on HSK superior to the control group, Performance in reducing eye irritation symptoms in a short time, shortened treatment time, improving eyesight, reducing the recurrence rate, and so on. 2. Chinese medicines improving the ocular immune may be one of the mechanism of treating the disease.
