Study On The Evolution Of Homosexuality Rights Based On The Development Of The Discipline Of Psychiatry

Homosexuality has been a phenomenon since the origin of human society.Homosexuals have suffered persecution,who were later classified as mental patients.With the amendments of diagnostic criteria of psychiatry and the rise of homosexuality rights,many westem countries have given the right of marrige to homosexuals.In this paper, the author applies comparative analysis methods,empirical analysis methods and theoretical analysis methods to the study of psychiatry on the homosexuality rights at different stages.In addition to the introduction, the full text falls into four chapters.Introduction:homosexuality drifits away from the mainstream culture as a subculture phenomenon.The view on homosexuality experienced the process of ancient civilization,criminal offenses, non-criminal offenses,pathelogical behaviors and non-pathelogical behaviors.This paper analyzes the evolution and protection of homosexuality rights on the basis of the development of psychiatry and provides a valuable idea as to the legislation of homosexuality rights in our country.Chapterâ… :This Chapter deals with the budding of psychiatry and corporal punishment of homosexaulity.At the budding stage of psychiatry:people who were affected by religious ideas firmly believed that mental illness was devils in disguise.Though there was no direct connection between homosexuals and mental patients,homosexuals were treated extremely cruel because of the religious beliefs.It was thought as "a crime contrary to human nature".The rights of homosexuals were mercilessly deprived as a result of the interference of the public power.Chapterâ…¡:In this chapter,the author deals with the birth of psychiatry and the pathology of homosexuality.Under the influence of the birth of psychiatry,western psychiatrists put forward the theory that homosexuality was an abnormal state of sex.The rights of homosexuals were not recognized and protected,though homosexuals were considered as mental patients.Most countries still stipulates homosexuality rights expenience a slow process of regression that is,from death penalty to abolition of death penalty,then from Lesser penalty to conditional exempt from punishment.Chapterâ…¢:This chapter discusses the modern psychiatry and non-pathology of homosexuality.Under the influence of the movement of homosexuality rights,American Psychiatry Association removed homosexuality from the Classification of mental illness.In 1992,WHO deleted homosexuality from adult personality and behavior disorders.In 2001,Psychiatry Branch of Chinese Medical Association confirmed that homosexuals were not mental patients.The non-pathology of homosexuality exerted an infhcence on part of the national legislation.Homosexuals finally ob-tained their rights which were under the protection of law,thus made same-sex marriage possible.Chapterâ…£:This Chapter expounds the future development of psychiatry and the protection of the rights of homosexuals.The transformation from biomedical mode to biopsychological mode promotes the development of modern psychiatry.However homosexuals are still subject to discrimination in society.In this chapter,the author directs the living environment of homosexuals and puts forward the legal ideas of protecting the rights of homosexuals.
