Objective:To analyze the clinical date of patients with maintenance hemodialysis(MHD) in a single blood purification center in china,we hope it may provide a theory basis for the whole therapy. Methods:We rstrospectively studied clinical records of 639 patients with MHD between January 1998 and July 2008.The data on the demographic and epidemiologic spectively of these patients were examined. The age at the start of HD,causes of end-stage renal disease(ERSD),the turnovers of treatment, the survival rates and risk factors were analyzed.Results:①among the 639 patients,432 were male and 207were female, and the ratio of male to female was 2.1 to 1,mean age was 49.86±13.40 years,17.53% were young people,61.5% were middle aged,20.97% were elderly.②Chronic glomerular disease was the most frequent cause of ESRD,and accounted for 68.3% in our patients, next were diabeticnephropathy for 14.97% and hypertensive arteriolar nephrosclerosis for 13.1%.③among 639 MHD patients, 7.67% of them received renal transplantation, 58.22% of them tansferred to other hospitals for hemodialysis,14.24% of them died and the other(19.87%) were still hospitalized in our units. Heart and cerebrocascular accident accouted for 45.1% of death cause, infection for 25.49% and insufficiency of HD for 15.86%.④The 1 year,5 year,10 year survival rate of patients with MHD was 93% , 71.6% and 31.35%.Conclusion:In our dialysis center, the majority of the ESRD patients was younger males, with primaryglomerular disease as the most common cause. The major death causes of hemodialysis patients include Heart and cerebrocascular accident, infective diseases. The old age, original disease as diabetes and hypertension, anemia, insufficiency of HD,hyperkalemia, fast heart rate and hypoproteinaemia were the risk factors.
