objective: Through analysis of clinical cases, on the ventricle third ventriculostomy endoscopic treatment of obstructive hydrocephalus of the indications, surgical methods and effects make one introduction to explore the clinical value. Methods: 54 patients'clinical and image data who underwent endoscopic third ventriculostomy for obstructive hydrocephalus were analyzed retrospectively from June 2005 to September 2008 in GuangXi Medical University First Affiliated Hospital of Neurosurgery, and then we carry out objectively clinical assessment on basis of these follow-up result. Results: 54 cases of patients, 52 cases of successful implementation of the third ventriculostomy, the failure of two cases of surgical operation: as result of intraoperative hemorrhage, it is unclear vision after continuous flushing intraventricular, and then installed extra ventricular drainage catheter, diverted ventriculo - peritoneal shunt after two weeks . 52 cases of successful surgery patients, followed up from 3 months -39 months, one of 44 cases of effective, 8 cases of invalid diverted ventricle - peritoneal shunt. There was no operative death and severe sequelae of cases. Conclusion: Endoscopic third ventriculostomy for Obstructive hydrocephalus is microoperation,It is safe, effective and less complicating, and patient recover fast. Endoscopic third ventriculostomy should be the best choice for obstructive hydrocephalus. The results of secondary hydrochphalus were better than those of primary hydrocephalus;Infants and young children ETV obstructive hydrocephalus surgery than adult bad, but no statistical significance, considering the number of cases is too small, and need to be further observational study, it is necessary to carefully select.
